Chronicle II - Buenos Aires. city of Lone Wolves

Thats right, lone wolves... an entire city full of Anthony Keidis (Under the Bridge phase) ponytails, bad attitudes and sexy eyes - you know that kind of half open - part sleepy, part gonna tear your clothes of - look? That one. There must be something in the water, or a special class that Argentinian men take in primary school.. I like it..

I was living in a beautiful apartment with a crazy chef who taught me a lot of colourful language - my favourite 'la renegrida conche de tu madre' too colourful to translate.. And the other housemate was an eccentric Canadian artist, who was hand writing the entire works of Shakespear!

Yeah I like Buenos Aires.. lots and lots of great food, almost every corner has a gelato store.. great wine, amazing vintage markets and shops.. and SO cheap. There is so much amasing street art, but the streets are FULL of dog poo!! But they have crazy decorated buses with fringed curtains in the windows which make up for that.. And all of the dog walkers are hot!

this thing was prunes and figs on a skewer, dipped in toffee and rolled in popcorn.. why? why the heck not!

I love this lady! You can't see them, but she was wearing white gloves too.. I'm going to be her in 30 years or make that 3..

I don't know what it was about this caravan and tree combo but it enchanted me.. I stood for a good few minutes imagining how great life could be if I lived in that caravan right there and ate gelati and flan and choripan (Argentinian staple food - choritzo hotdog with special sauce) every day for ever more...

And here are some more randoms for good measure.. here's to Señor Sandwich and the worlds cutest empanada

Picky Pickys

So I broke my vow to create chronicles.. it's ok, it may happen?
But don't be too disappointed because look.. I have finally uploaded some photos.. Hoorah! These ones are quite recent and I have thousands to go through.. look and learn. or just look and like. They are a bit nonsensical, but so am I..

Look! Wow... it is beautiful Rio de Janeiro.. hang on.. no, it is an enlarged photo of Rio on the wall of the food court in Rio airport.
Well I was too scared to take photos anywhere else... I was robbed.. gimme a break!

Mi querido Me-hi-co...

muchachas bonitas que me encanta...

dulces and balloons and piggies.. oh my!

why ever would you want high resolution-60000 dpi-full saturation printing... when you can simply paint a marketing masterpiece instead..

catholicism at every corner... including the corner of my corner store!

The Chronicles Part I

So.. hi.. yeah. Haven`t written for a while and now I am in a pickle because I don't know exactly where to begin.

I have decided to divide and conquer. I will start with the here and now and then create exciting chronicles travelling back through time and back through Argentina and Brazil..

So here I am back in my beloved Oaxaca, with my family. Mi abuelita (little nana) says that she wants to adopt me, and I might just let her. Saturday was El dia del Amor.. Valentines day Mexico style is a sight to see. Friday night was like the best horror movie I ever saw, which would be called

'The night, of the attack, of the giant, heartshaped, foil balloon people'..

Kinda speaks for itself.. the streets were FULL of those balloon bunches with legs that I love so much, but I mean full.. FULL! All red and shiny and foily.. ahhh

And on my second day back I found a traditional Mexican toyshop! With handmade toys of wood and tin, hand painted ones, and plastic ones too. There were little guitars painted with flowers - bright, plaster piggy banks with bows and big eyelashes - animal masks - skelleton toys - and barbies who had been dressed in hand woven fabrics.. A few oddities and a lot of TREASURE.. I found myself the perfect hombre!! Well he is a puppet, but he wears a sombrero, has rosey cheeks, un bigote enorme (big moustache) and is carrying a pistol.. We are going to have a June wedding and would love it if you could make it here for the special day.

I have been thinking that there is something in the recipe that makes Oaxaca which is very close to my recipe for heaven.. here are a few of the ingredients..

sweet papaya and mango
Volkswagon beetles
colourful embroidery
dancing skeletons
hand painted signage
street stalls with striped umbrellas
plastic shoes
crazy piñatas
cups of multicoloured jelly
bird, loveheart and flower decorations
ladies in colourful checkered aprons
confetti on the footpath
crepe paper streamers
cut paper decorations hung from lamp posts
shaved ice with topping
markets
buskers playing acordian
delicious drinks flavoured with flowers
long hair plaited with ribbons
fuegos artificiales - fireworks

.. these are a few of my favourite things.. and there's so much more..

I think Chronicle II will go all the way back to Buenos Aires. Que emocionante! I promise to be a good chiquita and write again muy pronto...

Hasta lluego mis queridos xxx
